Dr Abdur-Razaq Isa Sarumi is presently the Legal advisor for Dar Al-Awqaf Foundation. He is likewise the Chairman, Shari’ah Compliance Board for Tawakkul Cooperative, Ilorin, a non-loan, Investment and Financing Shari’ah Compliant Cooperative.
Sarumi obtained his PhD degree in Law and a Master of Comparative Law (MCL) degree in 2015 and 2019 respectively from International Islamic University Malaysia. He earlier bagged his LL.B degree in Islamic law in 2010 from the renowned Al-Azhar University, Cairo, Egypt.
He was appointed as a research assistant by the International Shari’ah Research Academy for Islamic Finance (ISRA), established by the Central Bank of Malaysia as an Islamic finance and Shariah related research institution in 2014-2015. He participated in Project B13-0936 entitled ‘Access to Justice in Environmental Matters’ under the aegis of International Islamic University Malaysia.
He was appointed as Jurisprudence and Legal Theory Tutor at the Civil Law Department, Ahmad Ibrahim Kulliyyah of Laws (AIKOL) International Islamic University Malaysia for two years (2015-2017). He is a professionally qualified Mediator for Conflict Solution and Trauma Conciliation. He worked as News Editor and Translator at National News Agency of Malaysia (Bernama), Department of Non-Aligned Movement News Network (NNN), 2015-2018.
The foundation strongly believes that mosques should go beyond praying grounds; it should also be a place to build moral standards, enhance spiritualism and intellectual erudition. Dar Al-Awqaf Foundation is also passionate about human capacity development, thereby striving to make every mosque conducive to accommodate these responsibilities.
